nothing a couple beers can’t cure.

March 29, 2008

i didn’t really feel like scrounging the pantry for dinner last night, but i also didn’t really want to go out because of my nasty backache . . . we decided to go to a new place owned by the same guy that runs my favorite sandwich spot, pastrami and wry. corey’s catsup & mustard was everything i could have hoped it would be . . . local brewed beers on tap, a full bar, a fantastic menu, amusing t-shirts. the same style and quality as pastrami on wry, but all new and different. even the fries, that come in the same variety, were a little different.

after i polished off a berkshire brewery “steel rail ale” sitting at the bar, while waiting for our dishes, i had forgotten that my back even hurt. we split an order of cajun fries, and we both ordered chicken off of the “ode to exes” menu, every sandwich was named for a previous restaurant that had occupied the building. there was a good mix of beef and chicken, i was a little worried that the menu would consist of mainly burgers, but was glad to see a little variety. we finished off with the mud pie: chocolate cookie on the bottom, coffee ice cream, topped with fudge and whipped cream.

this place is what was missing in manchester, a town with so many chain restaurants you could eat at a different place every night of the week for a month. and corey’s has what tgi friday’s, uno and ruby tuesday would never produce: genuine fresh made food. yummers.
