it’s what’s for dinner

because the local wholesale warehouse club is discontinuing a certain brand of all-natural low-salt turkey deli meat i was able to purchase said meat at 1/2 price. i am now the proud owner of 3 pounds of sliced turkey (for less than $9). how will the two of us eat all this turkey, you ask? easy:

2 slices of whole grain bread

4 thin slices of deli turkey

1 slice of cheese (not too thin)

a dab of french dressing

in a toaster oven, lightly toast bread. top one slice with turkey, and one slice with cheese. toast until cheese is melted. remove from toaster oven and add dab of dressing to center. place both slices of bread together (cheese and meat on the inside), plate and eat. repeat until all 3 pounds of meat is finished.

the woman at the deli counter was unsure of the sell-by date, but assured me that she had just opened the package that morning and it would be good for at least two weeks, alternately i can freeze some.  has anyone every had an experience with freezing deli meat??

    I don’t recommend you freeze them. It’s the thawing process that can lead to bacterial overload and eventually food poisoning.

    thanks cara, it didn’t seem like it would be best for the flavor either.
