sniff, sniff

January 3, 2008

i am addicted to bath and body products, obsessed since an unnaturally young age—i asked santa for bubble bath once, smelled like bubblegum with big bird on the label (i asked santa for a bible when i was 8, but that’s another story). since my first encounter with “tom’s of maine” aloe and almond shampoo, when i was 15, i went natural and never turned back. i have lots of natural products: organic lip balms, lip gloss, toothpaste, shampoos & conditioners, soap, soaps, more soap, creams, lotions, body oils. everything.

when i started my current job i met a woman who rents space in the building, she is an “estitician.” the word even sounds fantastic. she makes a living giving natural and all organic facials. she has really got my acne under control, for the fist time in my life i feel like my skin looks presentable. she started selling this shea nut line, shea terra, i bought a jar of “bourbon vanilla” body butter, it feels great and smells wonderful, like cake badder or frosting.

most highly fragranced creams or lotions give me a nasty headache, but i find that if i stick with all natural fragrances, and avoid florals i don’t have a problem. “bath & body works” smells so bad that if i walk into the store i fear i might have a seizure, and “the body shop” is not much better for me. this body butter smells so good the fist time i sniffed it i think i might have had a small orgasm.
