just about the only thing i miss from my childhood is summer camp (being an adult is realy much more fun). seeing as i attended three different summer camps i have quite a bit to miss. i loved every summer and really enjoyed the independence, fun, creativity and friendships–although short-lived. i wish i had been able to keep in contact with more of the great people i met, sure there were letters during the school year, but pre-email it was not so easy to keep in touch.

summer camping really gave me the vacation i needed from school, my family and younger sister (she liked it too, she loved being “only child” for a few weeks). nothing could be better than pancakes and bacon for breakfast, rest hour after lunch and swimming every afternoon. an affordable all-inclusive vacation package for an outdoor loving preteen.

i went to bement camp, charlton, ma from 1988 (i think, it may have been earilier) to 1996, epworth camp, high falls, ny from 1993 to 1996 and camp sloane, lakeville, ct 1997 and 1999 as a staffer.

You can find a lot of your friends through the Help Re-open Bement Camp and Conference center page on FaceBook and savebement.org. Bement has been closed and the Alumni are trying to reopen the camp.
